CMES Policies

CMES POLICIES

No Pets Policy

  • Pets are not allowed at any time.  Considerations of liability, allergies, and damage require this policy to be strictly enforced.
  • Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are permitted.  Documentation is required, and the school must be notified prior to arrival.

No Smoking Policy

In keeping with the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School’s intent to provide a safe and healthful learning and work environment, smoking is prohibited. This policy applies equally to all students, employees, and visitors to our campus. Restrictions include but are not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, and devices such as e-cigarettes, pipes, and vaporizers.

Students and guests who smoke may do so in designated areas outside of all buildings. All smoking related debris must be disposed in the provided receptacles.

Meals for Students' Guests

There is a charge for meals for students' spouses, guests, and children.  Please inquire at the Administration Office for current pricing.

Stay Overs

Anyone wishing to stay over on the Friday that they graduate must sign up in the office - you have until close of business on the Tuesday before you graduate to do so.  No one will be allowed to stay over who did not sign up.

Cell Phones

Cell phones must be turned off in the classroom.  If you forget to do so and your phone rings, please do not answer it.  Students are given numerous breaks throughout the day, which will provide time to handle phone calls and messages.

Dress Code

The schools dress code is as follows:

  • Business Casual / Neat.  Shirts must have sleeves and cover the entire torso.
  • Closed toed shoes are mandatory.  No flip-flops, sandals, crocks, etc. are allowed.
  • All attire must be clean and without rips or tears.

The dress code applies to the academic buildings during normal business hours (0800-1600) and in the cafeteria during all meal hours (except on weekends).  The dress code does not apply in the bar.

Lock Out Procedure

If you are locked out of your room, for any reason, the procedure is as follows:

  • During normal business hours, go to the Admin Office.
  • During meal hours, any one of the catering staff can help you.
  • If the bar is open, see the bartender.
  • Between the hours of 2300 and 0700, call the emergency number.

NOTE – When you call the emergency number you will be talking to an answering service, not to one of our staff members.  Give them the information they ask you for, and then either go to wait by your room, or wait in one of the visible public areas so the responder can find you.  The responder will not open your room if you are not there.

Photo IDs

Please bring a government issued photo ID with you.  The receptionist will scan an electronic copy of your ID for our records, and she will take your picture.  We are required by USCG to verify that you are who you say you are.  We can not issue you a certificate of course completion without this.

Class Attendance / Early Departure

Attendance is mandatory to successfully complete a class.  Tardiness and missed classes can be grounds for not receiving a course completion certificate, regardless of the grades a student earns on tests and lab work.

If for any reason you must leave the class before graduation day you will not be issued a certificate.  If you choose to take the class over again, you must repeat the entire course, not just the part you missed.
