TRIBUTE TO THE SS UNITED STATES
First Lady of the Sea

During the Spring of 2007, the School hosted a variety of public tours of the auditorium and bridge simulators. Attending one of those tours were Al and Paulette Lawing. Al and Paulette owned a maritime antique store in Easton. During the tour they noticed the various ship models and other nautical memorabilia that are on display around the Administration Building. The Lawings had attended the auction of the contents of the SS United States on October 8 - 14, 1984 in Norfolk, VA. They have been kind enough to place on loan to CMES various items from the "Big U", including the builder and designer's plates that had been located in the engineroom.
